Examining Freud...

What does it say (and I'm not trying to be flip here) about Sigmund Freud, that the arrangement of his office blocked that most basic form of human communication -- eye contact?

Here in his Vienna office Freud sat to the left of his subject, while the subject's line of sight was off to the right. Neither psychologist nor patient could see the other's face.
