I begged off of my monthly Public Buildings Commission meeting to go up to UConn with Asha and her family to see Ravi Shankar in concert last night. Civic duty is fine and all, but Ravi Shankar is 85 now and may well never be here again. So, once a month was indisputably trumped by once in a lifetime. The concert was good.

Ravi Shankar's daughter, Anoushka, is amazing. Truly a master of the sitar, like her father. She has an amazing amount of poise and presence for a 23 year-old. And she's stunningly beautiful.

An aside: Ravi Shankar's elder daughter is Nora Jones — born Gitanjali Nora Jones Shankar...
