This is supposed to be relaxing, right?

Click for larger imageashacat and I are heading out tomorrow for a week on Cape Cod. We're staying at a cottage in Wellfleet from Saturday to Saturday. We will both be pretty much incommunicado for the next seven days.

So, I'm rushing around doing all of these things to get ready for our trip and the number one thought running through my mind is don't get hurt. You see, I don't have the greatest track record when it comes to injuries & health and vacations. Last time I took time off (in April, when Asha came back from India, she was home one day and I promptly got sick). In 2005, on the Friday before we left for a week in Freeport, I tore an intercostal muscle in my ribs at work, and once in Freeport, manifested a really amazing rash. I had spots. And I was in pain.

The two weeks I spent in India in February were pretty uneventful on the health front, and our 2006 trip to the Cape the cape was injury free. So, I have hope. It's just that every time I go bombing down our steep old cellar stairs to change the laundry the thought comes to me do not fall down the stairs. Pre-trip anxiety. I'll get over it once we're in the car tomorrow morning.
