We visited the home of one of Asha’s cousins yesterday, which entailed taking a bus to the central bus station then an auto-rickshaw to Pushpa’s house. There we met her daughters (Roopa and Raksha), her mom (Aunti Saroja), her husband (Ram), and her sisters Visanthi and Pattu.
From Pushpa’s house we took an auto-rickshaw back across town to the Rangashankara theather (where the cousin’s Asha is staying with run a café) and saw a play. The play was an adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play The Glass Menagerie, reset in the Anglo-Indian community of the 1950s, and infused with music, humor, and a much better ending!
Despite several instances of it looking like we were going to get squashed like grapes, our rickshaw rides did not get us killed. Alas, both of us appear to have caught a cold. Bah.
I need to hunt down some breakfast, and find out how we’re getting to the train.
