The management of this journal regrets to inform you that a serious mathematical error was made in this posting. Wherein, the author converted from inches to miles using a factor of 5280, which is proper when converting feet to miles. In addition, a commenter pointed out that the author used the wrong average value for a monkey -- assuming 6.5" in lieu of a more scientific average of 5.5".

Using a proper conversion and a corrected mean monkey reduces the estimated collective American monkey to a mere 13,020 miles. You would therefore need all the monkey in the world to reach the moon (284,927 miles).

We sincerely apologize for the errors.
