This is what my desktop looked like tonight. We've been having some wandering weirdnesses in the core ring of the network -- problems that come and (maddeningly) go before we can get setup to troubleshoot them. So, for lack of anything better to do, I reset the ATM switches that make up the 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock arc of the ring... The windows running down the right and bottom of the screen are continuous pings going to those ATM switches. The cluster of pings running in the upper left are to some misc. servers I was fiddling with.

Most of these switches have been up for over 200 days, so a reset is probably in order any way. When I'm feeling more ambitious I'll go after the switches that make up the six sub-rings: many of them have been up for 320 days!
