I must be old-fashioned or something...

This week's E-School News carried an article about controversy in NYC over the school district's enforcement of an existing ban on cell phones in school buildings:

http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showStoryts.cfm?ArticleID=6782

From the article: ...said Rebecca Falik, a 16-year-old junior at LaGuardia High School. "...It's your right to have a cell phone." A sentiment repeated by the parents interviewed for the piece.

I think these people are a little fuzzy on what constitutes a "right".

You're not old fashioned. But you must be feeling a certain level of disgust over the level of entitlement expressed by the young lady.

(Although that locker idea is absolutely moronic!)

Exactly what I'm thinking. And, yes, the locker plan strikes me as moronic too. I'm trying to wrap my mind around a school building with 4,000+ students in it.

How's your recovery going? Asha had the same procedure done ~10 years ago. I recall it being messy and uncomfortable, but worth it in the end for the relief it brought her.

Thank you for asking. Day 1 was great, but today has been more uncomfortable. My family is doing an excellent job letting me recover on my sofa.

Good for them! (And you!)

(The following is supposed to be cut-tagged, but I don't know if cut-tags work in comments)...
Asha related to me that, during her post-op visit to her doc, the doc removed the gauze that he had packed her nose/sinuses with. She was rather amazed at the sheer length of gauze which he removed (something like 3 feet, plus). There wasn't any pain from the unpacking, just the psychological shock of seeing this rather long, rather icky, ribbon of gauze...

Memo to me, memo to me, cut-tags apparently don't work in comments. Hopefully that bit of information doesn't count as Way Too Much Information.

LOL! Fear not! Good news is that there was no packing on this one...he removed a cyst in the sinus, but no work was done to the septum. Bad news is that I can't blow my nose for a week (TMI...)

That still sounds icky, yet also not so bad. :-p

Ah, I see. We've excised some of those pesky ammendments (like the 4th, and parts of the 1st), and substituted some more contemporary ones. Thank you for clearing that up! :-)
